The new version of the eFront manual includes information on all the new functionality, several technical how-to guides, answers to common questions, a theme creating tutorial, and, last but not least, a plugin guide<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Plug-in what?<\/h2>\n


\nPlugins, as you may already know, are small programs that add new functionality to a larger system.<\/p>\n

Armed with our guide and a little spare time, anybody can create plugins for eFront. You don’t even have to be an expert programmer (but, of course, it helps). Writing plugins for an existing system, even small ones, is a great way to learn the basics of programming.<\/p>\n

Creative users often make their plugins available to the community for free. However,\u00a0eFront doesn’t have many free plugins at the moment (eFront had a few dozens), but that will soon change.<\/p>\n

Of course if you have more money than patience, and need some specific functionality to be added to eFront pronto, you can always hire someone to write a plugin for you.<\/p>\n

Don’t worry, be API<\/h2>\n

Intrigued? In eFront’s Plugin Guide you’ll find step by step instructions for setting up an eFront plugin development environment and creating your first plugin.<\/p>\n

In the process, you’ll learn the ins and outs of eFront’s plugin system, including templating, manipulating forms, integrating javascript, handling errors, sending emails and internationalizing your plugin (among other things).<\/p>\n

The Plugin Guide also informs prospective plugin authors of the best practices and troubleshooting tips, and contains an API reference.<\/p>\n
