\"VentureBeat<\/strong>\u00a0In layman\u2019s terms,\u00a0cloud computing<\/strong> is the technology which allows people like you and I to access an online service or product which resides on the internet. Instead of it being housed in a hard drive you have\u00a0in your home\u00a0or workplace, it\u2019s conveniently stored on \u201cthe cloud\u201d, available at anytime and using any device that has access to the internet.<\/p>\n

What constitutes Cloud Computing?<\/strong>\u00a0Here are\u00a0some simple examples:<\/p>\n

A good number of everyday internet users only realized what the ‘cloud’ was when Dropbox<\/strong> came out (if you don\u2019t have an account, make sure\u00a0you\u00a0check it out<\/a>!). Soon enough many more services would emphasize the use of the cloud later on. Something you\u2019ve probably used forever on the internet –\u00a0email –\u00a0is essentially a picture of the cloud! You can access it anywhere, from any device and any changes you make on one device will take effect on all of them.<\/p>\n

How does Cloud Computing even begin to affect eLearning?<\/strong> Let\u2019s begin with the essentials –\u00a0we are able to create eLearning platforms because of the cloud. Software engineers\u00a0have\u00a0the ability to work from anywhere with the use of the internet. Most importantly a platform was created that can be used from anywhere. You don\u2019t have to be in a class, and you don\u2019t have to be there at any particular time. It\u2019s a service we want you to use because you have a clear view of its benefits and because you want to! We know that people being forced to do things\u00a0they don’t want to do will\u00a0result in one of the following two scenarios:
\n1) You do it, and you do it poorly OR
\n2) You don\u2019t do it at all.<\/p>\n

So, when we decided to embark on this trip of enabling people to share knowledge we had three things in mind:<\/p>\n
